Liverpool. Another Trophy

It is so nice to see Liverpool back to winning trophies again.

First came the UEFA champions league win where they beat Spurs in the final. And last week they edged out Chelsea – another English team – to win their fourth Super Cup. They did it on penalties. In Istanbul. Looks like this is their favorite place to win European Competitions.

There were plenty of chances as usual to win it within the 90 minutes. But this being Liverpool, many of those chances had to be squandered and the same for the 30 minutes of extra time. But at least substitute goalkeeper Adrian saved the final Chelsea penalty to win it for his team.

What sort of luck is this?

Then comes the weird news – that Adrian may have been injured by a celebrating fan after the victory. Which means Liverpool may be out of their first and second choice goalkeepers come the Saturday game against Southampton.

Champions League winner Alisson was injured during the opening day Premier League fixture. He is projected to be out a few weeks.

Jurgen Klopp is delivering on Liverpool’s obvious talent. Although the team could do a much better of consistently taking advantage of the chances created to assert control and maintain advantage. Too often, they have been guilty of wasteful finishing. Add to that some woeful defending at times.

Liverpool is full of so much talent that they are much better than this.
